Listen

The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has urged governments and airlines to adhere strictly to health safety guidelines introduced after the COVID-19 pandemic, following an Ebola outbreak in parts of Africa.

The outbreak, linked to the Bundibugyo strain, has been reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with additional confirmed cases in neighbouring Uganda.

ICAO says it is working with global health authorities to strengthen coordination and reduce the risk of disease spread through air travel, while also protecting passengers and aviation personnel.

The agency emphasized the importance of maintaining safe and efficient international travel while responding appropriately to public health concerns.
