The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, have in separate goodwill messages, urged Muslims to uphold the values of sacrifice, unity, and compassion as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir across Kwara State and Nigeria.
The Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Abdulazeez Arowona, described Eid-el-Kabir as a divine reminder of total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail. He further offered prayers for Nigerian pilgrims performing the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia, asking Allah to accept their worship and return them safely home, while also praying for peace, stability, and progress in Kwara State and Nigeria.
On his part, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, who also serves as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election, congratulated Muslims and urged them to sustain the spirit of compassion beyond the festivities.
At the University of Ilorin, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, described Eid-el-Kabir as a celebration rooted in faith, sacrifice, and perseverance, urging the Muslim community to observe the period with moderation and gratitude. He encouraged affluent Muslims to extend support to the less privileged. He also commended the university community for maintaining peace on campus and supporting the institution’s growth and reputation.
Across the messages, the leaders unanimously called for prayers for national leaders, peace in Nigeria, and continued unity among citizens, while urging Muslims to carry the lessons of Eid into their daily lives.
