President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede whose second term ends on July 31, 2026.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday May 20 by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Aina, who turns 40 in July, is a computer engineering professor and systems expert with experience in examination administration, digital infrastructure, and institutional reforms.
He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, as well as a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University. He also attended the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
Aina, who currently serves as a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, reportedly began his association with JAMB during his National Youth Service, where he gained experience in admissions administration and data management.
The Presidency said the academic has spent more than 15 years working in technology, policy development, and institutional transformation, advising federal and state governments on digital transition and operational reforms. He has also worked as a consultant to various examination bodies, focusing on ICT systems, examination integrity, and digital process optimisation.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that the new registrar would build on the achievements recorded under Oloyede and further strengthen the operations of the examination body.
