SALLAH: DUTSE RESIDENTS STRUGGLE AS RAM PRICES SURGE AHEAD OF EID-EL-KABIR

Listen

Residents of Dutse in Jigawa State are expressing concern over the rising cost of rams and other sacrificial animals ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Market checks indicate that livestock prices have increased by over 300% compared to previous seasons. A large ram reportedly sells for about N500,000, while a well-bred bull goes for around N1 million.

Traders attribute the price hike to the high cost of animal feed, while residents say the situation is making it difficult for many families to afford sacrificial animals this year. Some residents say they are exploring alternative ways to celebrate the season within their means.

The development continues to draw concern among buyers as the festive period approaches.
