The Edo State Government is pushing for stronger monitoring and public awareness of services offered at Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in Benin City, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr Andrew Iyamu, said many residents are unaware that some drugs and healthcare services at PHCs are free. He also raised concerns about staff shortages and weak emergency response systems in some centres.
Officials said the state is working to improve healthcare delivery through renovations, better facilities, disability-friendly access and partnerships with private organisations and community stakeholders.
The Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency also urged residents to make greater use of PHCs and provide feedback to help improve services across communities.
