Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has described the screening conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as “democracy in action.”
Speaking after appearing before the party’s screening committee in Abuja, Obi said the exercise showed the importance of due process, accountability and transparency in democratic systems.
Obi also dismissed speculation that he had already emerged as the party’s consensus presidential candidate, stating that the process remained open and democratic. He said his focus ahead of the 2027 elections is on building a united, secure and prosperous Nigeria.
