DHQ: NIGERIA–U.S. JOINT OPERATIONS KILL 175 ISIS FIGHTERS IN NORTH-EAST STRIKES

Listen

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) says joint counter-terrorism operations involving Nigerian troops and the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) have led to the killing of 175 ISIS fighters in the North-East.

In a statement, the DHQ said the coordinated air and ground strikes, which began a few days ago, also destroyed ISIS checkpoints, weapons storage sites, logistics hubs, and other equipment used by the group.

It added that several high-ranking commanders were among those neutralised, including individuals identified as key operatives involved in logistics, recruitment, financing, attacks and media activities.

The military said the operations have significantly disrupted the group’s command structure and that efforts will continue in collaboration with international partners to dismantle remaining terrorist networks.
