Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has warned police officers across the country against misconduct, abuse of power and unprofessional behaviour.
Speaking during a visit to the Edo State Police Command in Benin, the IGP said the Nigeria Police Force would no longer tolerate acts capable of damaging public trust and the image of the force.
He referenced recent incidents involving alleged police misconduct in Delta and extortion allegations in Port Harcourt, revealing that officers linked to the cases had been recommended for dismissal. According to him, one of the cases has also been forwarded for further legal action.
The police chief said the force is working toward a more disciplined and professional policing system built on accountability and public confidence. He also commended officers for their efforts in maintaining peace and security across the country.
