FG: NO CHILD SHOULD MISS SCHOOL OVER POVERTY — EDUCATION MINISTER

Listen

The Federal Government says no Nigerian child should miss school because of financial hardship. The Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, stated this during an inspection of schools under the AGILE programme in Kano State.

She said government interventions, including education financing and skills programmes, are helping to reduce barriers to learning and expand access to education across the country. She also encouraged students, especially girls, to take advantage of the opportunities available.

During the visit, the minister assessed school facilities and directed that identified gaps in classrooms, laboratories and sanitation be fixed within three weeks. She also warned against restricting access to learning facilities meant for students.

The AGILE programme, supported by the World Bank, is aimed at improving access to quality education for girls.
