A communication expert has called for greater involvement of communities in the planning and implementation of development projects to improve sustainability and social impact.
Prof. Christopher Ochonogor made the call while presenting a paper at a conference of the Department of Mass Communication at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt.
He explained that development efforts are more effective when communities are included from the beginning, especially with the support of modern digital communication tools. He also encouraged the use of media literacy in university training to better prepare students for the digital age.
He added that while digital technology offers opportunities, it must be used responsibly to support positive social change.
