IJAW ELDERS CAUTION AGAINST INAUGURATION OF INC EXECUTIVES FROM DISPUTED ELECTION

Listen

Traditional rulers and elders in Ijaw Nation have warned against the inauguration of any executive emerging from the April 13 election of the Ijaw National Congress (INC).

Chairman of the National Council of Ijaw Traditional Rulers and Elders (N-CITRE), King Bubaraye Dakolo, said in Yenagoa that there are existing court orders stopping the swearing-in process linked to the disputed election.

Dakolo stated that the INC constitution gives N-CITRE the responsibility of conducting the swearing-in, adding that he had not authorised anyone to perform the exercise on behalf of the council.

He called for dialogue and peaceful resolution, urging stakeholders in the Ijaw Nation to “give peace a chance” and work together in the interest of unity within the apex Ijaw organisation.
