Former Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu, has said that political zoning remains important for promoting national cohesion, inclusion, and equity in Nigeria.
Speaking in Enugu while reacting to recent comments on zoning, Okechukwu described the arrangement as a foundational system designed to ensure fairness and representation across different regions of the country.
He said zoning helps prevent the concentration of political power in one area and allows all regions to have opportunities in leadership positions.
Okechukwu also referenced past political arrangements and said equity in governance must be considered within the broader structure of national balance.
