JIGAWA POLICE COMMISSIONER RAISES CONCERN OVER RISING DEFORESTATION

Listen

The Commissioner of Police in Jigawa State, Haruna Yahaya, has raised concerns over increasing cases of deforestation linked to indiscriminate tree felling across the state.

Speaking during a visit to the Emir of Kazaure, the police commissioner called on traditional rulers, local authorities and community leaders to support efforts aimed at protecting the environment and improving public safety.

Yahaya also warned against mob action and jungle justice, urging residents to report crimes and disputes to security agencies instead of taking the law into their own hands.

The commissioner said the police command would continue to strengthen community policing, intelligence sharing and collaboration with stakeholders to promote security and peaceful coexistence across the state.
