A Canada-based Nigerian doctor, Arinze Onwumelu, has urged singer Portable to undergo an urgent brain scan following his intense boxing clash with skit maker Carter Efe.
The celebrity fight, held in Lagos over the weekend, saw Portable take heavy blows to the head before losing—sparking widespread reactions online.
Reacting in a viral video, the doctor warned that the punches could have caused serious internal damage, including a possible subdural hematoma (a dangerous brain injury). He recommended an MRI scan to rule out hidden complications.
He didn’t stop there—Onwumelu also criticised organisers for poor safety standards, insisting that protective gear like head guards should be mandatory in such exhibition fights.
The bout may have been billed as entertainment, but the aftermath is raising serious questions about safety—and whether the risks are being taken too lightly.
