Young footballers in Ondo are about to get their biggest shot yet Europe and South America scouts are watching.
Akure — Grassroots football in Ondo is set for a major spotlight as Abaj Multilinks Limited launches the Aiyedatiwa International Scouting Programme to discover and promote young talent.
The initiative, announced by CEO Prince Dapo Ajibade, will bring international scouts from Europe and South America to Akure to assess promising players from Nigeria’s grassroots academies.
Ajibade said the event is designed to strengthen youth football, support local academies, and give young players real pathways to professional careers abroad.
Sixteen teams are expected to compete—12 from Ondo and four from neighbouring states—between May 14 and 17 at the Ondo State Sports Complex.
Beyond football, organisers say the programme could boost local sports development and even the state economy by spotlighting homegrown talent on a global stage.
