Maiduguri, May 1, 2026 — The APC in Borno has adopted Mustafa Gubio as its consensus governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
Governor Babagana Zulum presented Gubio to Vice President Kashim Shettima in Abuja, saying the decision followed wide consultations and reflects party unity in the state.
Zulum also credited President Bola Tinubu for his leadership and support, noting his role in the emergence of the consensus candidate.
The governor described Gubio as his preferred successor, with top party leaders and stakeholders backing the move.
