ZULUM BACKS GUBIO FOR 2027, SAYS ‘HE’LL CONTINUE THE WORK’

Listen

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has thrown his weight behind Engr Mustapha Gubio as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship race.

Speaking in Abuja while presenting Gubio with nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Zulum said the choice is about continuity and preserving gains made under his administration.

According to him, Gubio has shown “discipline, courage and commitment,” especially during his time as Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement.

Zulum credited him with driving key projects, including housing and rebuilding efforts in insurgency-affected areas like Bama, Konduga, Damasak and Mafa—restoring schools, healthcare facilities, and basic services.

He said Gubio’s track record aligns with Borno’s recovery and development goals, describing him as well-positioned to sustain progress and stability in the state.

The endorsement signals early political alignment ahead of 2027, with a focus on experience, continuity, and post-conflict rebuilding.
