Tension rises in Ikuru Town as authorities move to restore calm after a deadly clash.

The Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Lucky Otuo, has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Ikuru Town, Rivers State, following the alleged killing of a vigilance group member.

He also banned all local vigilance groups in the area, saying the move is aimed at restoring order and protecting lives and property.

The incident reportedly happened in the early hours of Thursday and is linked to a violent clash between a security group and some youths in the community.

Meanwhile, a local socio-cultural group, Utono Obolo Worldwide, has condemned the killing, describing it as tragic and avoidable. The group is calling on security agencies to step in quickly to prevent further escalation.

Residents have been urged to remain calm as investigations continue and efforts are made to prevent fresh violence.
