Emmanuel Eneh has emerged as the new Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in Enugu State, following a consensus election involving delegates from all 17 LGAs.
Eneh will lead the association for the next three years, alongside a new executive team including Chief Emma Okenwa (Deputy Chairman) and other zonal vice chairmen.
Officials say the election marks a major comeback for AFAN in the state after over seven years without leadership polls, largely due to internal national challenges now resolved.
Stakeholders urged unity and strong leadership, stressing AFAN’s role in shaping agricultural policies and boosting food security.
Government representatives also challenged the new leadership to build a proper farmers’ database and improve access to funding, including linking members to the Bank of Agriculture.
In his acceptance speech, Eneh promised to reposition AFAN, focusing on training, better inputs, and stronger collaboration with the state government under Peter Mbah.
Bottom line: a new leadership, a united front—and high expectations for farmers in Enugu.
