In a blunt political pep talk, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike tells PDP leaders: stop losing members start winning them back.
FCT Minister and prominent PDP figure, Nyesom Wike, has urged the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to prioritise reconciliation and actively bring back members who defected to other parties.
Wike made the call during a visit to the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led NWC at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja, where he stressed that many defectors simply need reassurance about fairness and political opportunities.
He encouraged the party to reach out strategically, rebuild trust, and roll out programmes that will make the PDP attractive again to Nigerians ahead of 2027.
Wike also congratulated the new leadership, reaffirmed his loyalty, and said the party must now focus on unity, discipline, and hard work after resolving internal crises.
He dismissed claims by smaller parties calling themselves the “main opposition,” arguing that electoral performance—not social media noise—defines political relevance.
According to him, PDP remains Nigeria’s strongest opposition force despite recent setbacks, and must stay focused on rebuilding its electoral strength.
In response, NWC leaders thanked Wike for his support and pledged to reposition the party for victory in 2027, saying the PDP “has come to stay.”
