Even in a digital-first world, paper isn’t retiring yet it’s just going green.
FAE Ltd. (Flexible & Advanced Enterprises Ltd.) has launched a new eco-friendly copier paper brand, “Ecofine,” aimed at boosting environmental sustainability and strengthening Nigeria’s paper manufacturing sector.

The unveiling took place in Lagos during the 2026 World Envelope Day celebration, an annual event highlighting the relevance of the paper industry in communication and economic development.

Chief Executive Officer Layo Bakare-Okeowo said Ecofine paper was designed to meet global environmental standards, reduce machine jamming, and deliver sharp, high-quality printing performance.

She explained that the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability and responsible production amid rising global environmental concerns.

Bakare-Okeowo also stressed the need to revive Nigeria’s paper industry, noting its huge economic potential despite decades of underperformance and heavy reliance on imports.

She described paper production as a “gold mine,” saying Nigeria has the capacity to not only meet local demand but also compete in export markets if properly developed.

While acknowledging global moves toward a paperless society, she argued that paper remains essential for communication, documentation, and inclusion, especially in areas with limited digital access.

Also speaking, President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry leader Leye Kupoluyi described the paper sector as a multi-billion-naira industry that requires urgent revitalisation.

He noted that strengthening the industry would support key sectors like education, manufacturing, and business operations, ultimately contributing to national economic growth.

Paper may be old-school, but with Ecofine, Nigeria’s industry is trying to make it sustainable and competitive again.
