Two trusted faces, two shattered homes — and a chilling reminder that danger sometimes hides in plain sight.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Ondo State has arrested two men accused of sexually assaulting minors in separate incidents in Akure.
According to command spokesperson Daniel Aidamenbor, the suspects — aged 22 and 38 — allegedly targeted girls aged 13 and 15 in attacks that occurred weeks apart.
One suspect, Emeka Chidi Innocent, reportedly assaulted a 13-year-old and went into hiding before being tracked down and arrested in Idanre.
In a separate case, Ayodele John allegedly defiled a 15-year-old girl inside her parents’ home — and was arrested just a day later.
Authorities say both men have confessed and will face prosecution, with the aim of sending a strong warning to others.
But beyond the arrests, NSCDC is sounding an alarm for parents: know who you let into your homes.
Aidamenbor stressed that both suspects were familiar faces to the victims’ families, urging stricter background checks on artisans and cautioning against leaving children unsupervised.
The takeaway? Safety starts at home — and vigilance can make all the difference.
