CULT CRACKDOWN: POLICE BUST KINGPINS, SEIZE GUN IN ONDO

Listen

A campus clash, a tip-off, and a hidden weapon — Ondo police are tightening the net on cult gangs.

The Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State has scored a major win against cultism, arresting two suspected kingpins and recovering a firearm in Ondo Town.

According to police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh, the suspects were picked up on April 11 in an intelligence-led operation driven by credible tips from the Ondo End Miscreant Group.

The duo, identified as Nnamdi Sunday and Adegbuyi Seyi, are believed to be members of rival cult groups — Eiye and Aiye — long linked to violent clashes across the state.

Investigations point to their involvement in a recent cult showdown at Adeyemi Federal University of Education, where tensions flared and peace was threatened.

But that wasn’t all.

After their arrest, the suspects reportedly led operatives to a hideout in Oka Garage area, where a locally made pistol was uncovered — believed to be part of their criminal arsenal.

Police say the suspects are now in custody, with investigations ongoing to track down other gang members and mop up more weapons.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal has doubled down on the command’s zero-tolerance stance, vowing to flush out cultism and restore safety across the state.

The takeaway? Security agencies are leaning harder on intelligence — and they want the public to keep the tips coming.
