Kwara Government is set to open a geriatric centre at Amoyo Rehabilitation Home to institutionalize elderly care and create jobs in the state. Announced during the 2025 National Older Persons Day in Ilorin, the initiative includes training caregivers to support seniors as family structures evolve. The event also showcased Kwara’s Indigenous Crafts, celebrating elderly artisans’ creativity.
Officials praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s inclusive leadership promoting both youth and elderly welfare. The Brafem Geriatric Foundation highlighted ongoing outreach efforts but stressed challenges like funding and infrastructure, calling for enhanced social care and emergency resources for seniors.
