Hamas has begun implementing a peace deal announced by President Donald Trump, submitting lists of Palestinian prisoners for release as part of the agreement. Israel’s Security Cabinet is set to meet and vote on the deal, which includes a phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
The plan calls for the release of all hostages held for over two years and freeing about 250 Palestinians jailed for life alongside 1,700 detained since the October 2023 Hamas attack. Leaders worldwide have praised the deal, with Israeli PM Netanyahu hailing it as a national victory.
