Kidney patients at University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, are benefiting from the Federal Government’s subsidy, cutting dialysis costs from ₦50,000 to ₦12,000. Consultant Nephrologists Dr. Samuel Ajayi and Dr. Yemi Raji praised the initiative, highlighting its impact on improving patient access and quality of life. The government supplied necessary consumables and machines, but doctors urge inclusion of dialysis in NHIS and more support for transplants. Patients are also advised to avoid harmful herbal treatments and properly follow medical prescriptions.
