Arsenal came from behind to defeat Leeds United 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium, while Chelsea recorded an emphatic 5-1 victory over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge in Saturday’s Premier League action. Elsewhere, Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, extending their difficult start to the campaign.
At the Emirates, Leeds frustrated Arsenal with disciplined defending in the first half before taking the lead 10 minutes after the break. However, goals from Riccardo Calafiori and Bruno Guimaraes secured all three points for the Gunners. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised Leeds for their organisation and physical approach, warning that the visitors remained dangerous whenever his side failed to convert their chances.
Chelsea, meanwhile, produced an impressive attacking display to defeat Bournemouth 5-1. New signing Jordan Henderson scored twice, while striker Joao Pedro also netted a brace, with Morgan Rogers completing the scoring. Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso singled out midfielder Moses Caicedo for praise, saying his improved form had strengthened the team’s midfield and overall performance.
At Old Trafford, Tottenham earned a 1-1 draw against Manchester United despite finishing with 10 men after Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off in the 78th minute. Bryan Mbeumo had put United ahead in the 73rd minute before Dominic Solanke equalised in stoppage time. The result left Manchester United with six points from six matches, with manager Michael Carrick expressing disappointment over his team’s performance and inability to take control of the game.
