DEFENCE MINISTER MOURNS VICTIMS OF MILITARY AIRCRAFT CRASH

The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa, has expressed deep sorrow over the military aircraft crash involving personnel of the Armed Forces, describing the loss of the officers and airmen as a painful blow to the military and the nation.

Musa, in a statement issued on Monday, October 5, in Abuja, said the aircraft, with tail number NAF 931, was carrying personnel on a routine flight mission when the crash occurred. He said the victims served the country with courage, dedication and patriotism, and commended their professionalism and commitment to national defence.

The minister extended condolences to President Bola Tinubu, the leadership of the Armed Forces and the families, loved ones and colleagues of the deceased personnel. He also expressed sympathy to the families of civilians who were on board the ill-fated aircraft, saying the Ministry of Defence shared in their grief.

Musa said a comprehensive investigation had been ordered to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash and strengthen operational safety protocols across military aviation units. He prayed for the eternal repose of the deceased and for strength for their families, the military community and Nigerians to bear the loss.
