Nigeria’s Super Eagles head into Tuesday’s international friendly against Russia with several players unavailable because of injuries and club restrictions.

Captain Wilfred Ndidi is ruled out after suffering a minor knock in the recent AFCON qualifier against Guinea-Bissau. Raphael Onyedika, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Ridwan Abdulrasaq Popoola were also stopped by their clubs from travelling, while defender Victory Akpe missed the trip through injury.

Moses Usor and Suleiman Mubarak were also unable to join the squad for different reasons. Ibraheem Ajasa of FC Rostov was expected to join the team’s camp in Nizhny Novgorod.

The Super Eagles have 18 players in Russia for the friendly, according to NAN, with the team preparing for another meeting with a Russian side they drew 1-1 against 16 months ago.
