The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Yobe State has called for stronger collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to improve civic and voter education ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Alhaji Abubakar Ma’aji, made the call on Thursday, September 24, during a courtesy visit to the NOA Yobe Directorate in Damaturu. He said stronger collaboration would help develop effective mobilisation strategies for citizens across different age groups and genders.
Ma’aji described NOA as a strategic partner in promoting civic and voter education and supporting the smooth conduct of elections. He said the partnership could strengthen citizen engagement ahead of the polls.
The NOA State Director, Hajiya Zuwaira Ali, identified civic and voter education, public enlightenment on electoral guidelines, countering election-related misinformation and disinformation, community engagement and joint sensitisation programmes as areas for collaboration.
Ali said the activities would be extended across Yobe’s 17 Local Government Areas to promote wider citizen engagement, informed participation and peaceful elections. The visit ended with the presentation of NOA publications to the INEC delegation.
