Nigeria is scheduled to address the 81st United Nations General Assembly General Debate on Thursday, Sept. 24, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima expected to deliver the country’s national statement.
An updated provisional speakers’ schedule cited by NAN places Nigeria fourth in the afternoon session. Shettima is expected to outline Nigeria’s positions on major international issues and participate in high-level and bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Assembly.
The Vice-President will lead a Nigerian delegation that includes governors, ministers and other senior officials, according to the Presidency. The 81st General Debate is taking place from Sept. 22 to 26 and on Sept. 28 under the theme, “Restoring trust, managing transformation: a United Nations that delivers for all.”
