The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has unveiled a 14-player Junior Female YellowGreens squad for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Division 1 Qualifier in Tanzania.
The tournament is scheduled for August 30 to September 5, with Nigeria set to compete for a place at the global U19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
Christabel Chukwuonye will captain the team, with Shola Adekunle as vice-captain. Other members of the squad are Omosigho Eguakun, Peace Usen, Anointed Akhigbe, Deborah Bassey, Jessica Bien, Inyene Ubong, Beauty Oguai, Favour Effiong, Chisom Okpe, Jennifer Godwin, Praise Onaghise and Glory Idiahi.
NCF said the players emerged after a rigorous selection process involving zonal camps, further assessments and competitive evaluations. The team is expected to use its remaining preparations to work on tactical awareness, combinations, match readiness and mental strength.
Chukwuonye brings international experience to the squad, having represented Nigeria at the U19 level and impressed at the 2026 Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament, where she took 17 wickets in nine matches.
The Tanzania qualifier represents another important step in Nigeria’s women’s cricket development programme, with the young players seeking to build on the country’s previous U19 global experience and earn another opportunity on the international stage.
