The Department of State Services (DSS), working with other security agencies and local vigilantes, has rescued a 29-year-old kidnap victim and neutralised two suspected kidnappers in Imo State.

The victim, Ibeabuchi Adibenma, was reportedly abducted on August 18 near Afor-Ogidi Market in Isiala Amaifeke, Orlu Local Government Area. The suspects allegedly intercepted his vehicle while he was returning from Umuna Market and took him to an undisclosed location.

The kidnappers subsequently contacted his family and demanded N15 million ransom for his release. The DSS said security operatives launched a coordinated operation on August 20, leading to the victim’s rescue at Ihioma Community in Orlu.

The agency said two suspected members of the kidnapping syndicate were neutralised during the operation, while two high-calibre weapons and ammunition were recovered. Adibenma was taken into protective custody before being reunited with his family.

The DSS commended the participating security agencies and local vigilantes for their collaboration, saying the operation demonstrated continued efforts to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities in Imo communities.
