Armed bandits have reportedly abducted the traditional ruler of Igbesi community in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I.
The incident occurred at about 11 p.m. on Saturday when the attackers invaded the community in Oke-Onigbin, Kwara South Senatorial District. A palace source said the monarch was taken away during the attack, although details surrounding the incident remained unclear.
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, confirmed the abduction of the traditional ruler but denied reports that other residents were also kidnapped. He said security operatives had commenced efforts to locate and rescue the monarch.
“The narrative of attacks within the past 24 hours is far from the truth; nothing of such,” the commissioner said.
The incident has raised fresh security concerns in parts of Kwara South as security agencies intensify efforts to locate the monarch and bring him to safety.
