WIKE ORDERS DEMOLITION OF 30 BUILDINGS ON ABUJA ROAD CORRIDOR

Listen

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate demolition of about 30 buildings allegedly constructed illegally along the Ring Road III corridor in the Karsana area of Abuja.

Wike issued the directive on Thursday during an inspection of the ongoing Arterial Road N16 project, linking Ring Road II to Ring Road III. The order followed a briefing by the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Richard Dauda, who said the structures had encroached on the road corridor.

The minister directed the Department of Development Control to remove the buildings, stressing that private developments must not obstruct critical infrastructure or distort the Abuja Master Plan.

Wike described the Arterial Road N16 project as a major infrastructure intervention and expressed confidence that it would be completed by December. He also inspected the five-kilometre Zaudna-Kaba-Kagini Road and the Magistrate Court under construction in Garki.

The minister said the positive response of residents to the road project demonstrated the impact of infrastructure development on communities. He also expressed confidence that the Garki Magistrate Court would be delivered by December.
