The Lagos State Police Command has detained a Chinese national over allegations of sexual assault and repeated unwanted advances toward a male Nigerian employee.

The suspect was reportedly accused of luring the employee to a hotel under the guise of a business transaction, where he allegedly attempted to force him into unwanted sexual acts. The employee later petitioned the police after repeatedly rejecting the alleged advances.

Following the petition, Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani directed that the case be transferred from Ilemba Hausa Police Station, Ojo, to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, for further investigation.

A police source said the suspect allegedly threatened the complainant and terminated his employment after he refused to yield to the advances. The case is being handled by the SCID’s Diplomatic/Foreign Nationals Section.

The police said the Chinese Embassy was being notified of the suspect’s arrest in line with procedures involving foreign nationals. Investigators are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the allegations and determine the appropriate legal action.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. The police stressed that the allegations remain subject to investigation and due process.
