NFF ORDERS SUPER FALCONS TECHNICAL CREW TO STEP DOWN

Listen

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has directed members of the Super Falcons’ technical crew to step down with immediate effect following the team’s disappointing 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

The federation announced the decision on Monday through its official X account, stating that its Executive Committee had asked the technical crew to vacate their positions.

The move follows Nigeria’s failure to retain the WAFCON title and, more significantly, their inability to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. It will be the first time the nine-time African champions will miss the tournament since its inaugural edition in 1991.

The development leaves the NFF with the task of finding a new technical team to rebuild the Super Falcons and restore their competitiveness. The team’s next major assignment is the 2028 Olympic Games qualifying campaign, with Nigeria scheduled to face Comoros in October.

The latest decision marks a major shake-up for the Super Falcons as the NFF seeks a fresh technical direction and aims to prevent further setbacks in the team’s international campaign.
