Listen

The Association of Enterprise Risk Management Professionals (AERMP) has launched a weekly publication, CRO Compass, to provide Chief Risk Officers (CROs) and senior risk professionals with timely information on emerging risks, regulatory developments and industry trends.

AERMP Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Olayinka Odutola, unveiled the publication during the association’s virtual knowledge-sharing session, “The CRO And You.” He said the initiative would provide concise intelligence to help risk leaders anticipate and respond to emerging challenges.

Odutola said CRO Compass would also highlight critical issues requiring the attention of risk professionals, while supporting continuous learning, knowledge sharing and stronger risk management practices across industries.

The session featured Dr Olugbile Erinwusi, Chief Risk Officer of ProvidusUnity Bank, who shared insights on executive-level risk decisions, emerging organisational threats and managing risks under pressure. He also advised professionals seeking careers in the field to gain practical experience and understand the businesses they serve.

The experts said the role of CROs had evolved beyond traditional financial and credit risks, with professionals increasingly expected to contribute to strategic business decisions and help organisations navigate complex and interconnected risks. They urged risk professionals to embrace innovation, engage more closely with management and ensure that risk frameworks evolve alongside changing business environments.

According to AERMP, discussions on emerging risks will continue beyond its knowledge-sharing sessions through CRO Compass, providing professionals with a regular platform for industry intelligence and practical insights.
