Listen

The Lagos State Taskforce has arrested 46 suspects during a major enforcement operation across Lagos Island, Victoria Island and the Lekki axis as part of efforts to improve public safety and restore order.

The operation covered locations including Muri-Okunola Park, Obalende Underbridge, Law School Junction, Maroko, Sandfill by Mobil Bus Stop and Marwa Bus Stop. Officials said the exercise targeted suspected criminal elements, illegal commercial motorcyclists, street traders, ticket touts and drug peddlers.

According to the agency, security operatives recovered substances suspected to be illicit drugs, alongside a cutlass and a locally made dane gun during the operation. Authorities said normalcy has since been restored in the affected areas.

Taskforce Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, said the agency would continue enforcement operations across the state to deny criminals safe havens and maintain public order. He added that those arrested would be prosecuted under relevant Lagos State laws.

The Lagos State Government says the operation is part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening security, protecting residents and ensuring a safer environment across the state.
