The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised motorists to use alternative routes after two separate crashes disrupted traffic at Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Friday July 24.
According to the FRSC, the first crash involved five articulated trucks and a Toyota Sienna on the outbound lane to Ibadan. One person died, another was injured, while five others escaped unharmed. Rescue efforts were complicated after the victim became trapped beneath one of the trucks.
While recovery operations were underway, a second crash occurred on the inbound lane to Lagos involving a Mazda commercial bus. The driver, who sustained serious injuries after the vehicle reportedly suffered brake failure, was rescued and taken to hospital for treatment.
The FRSC said emergency responders, including LASEMA, are clearing the accident scene and urged motorists to avoid the Kara–Ojodu Berger corridor where possible. Travellers heading to Ibadan are advised to use the Ikorodu-Sagamu route, while those entering Lagos should consider the Lekki-Epe or Ikorodu-Sagamu expressways.
