The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted ₦2 billion bail to Bello Bodejo, the National President of Miyetti Allah Kauta Hore, who is facing alleged money laundering charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Inyang Ekwo ruled that the charges are bailable and approved Bodejo’s release subject to strict conditions. The court ordered him to provide two sureties in like sum, with one required to present three years of tax clearance and reside in Abuja, while the other must own a property valued at ₦2 billion within the Federal Capital Territory.
The court also directed Bodejo to deposit his international passport and barred him from travelling outside the country without prior approval. The ruling followed arguments by both the defence and prosecution on the bail application.
The matter has been adjourned to October 5, 6 and 7 for trial. The charges remain allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty by the court.
