The Kogi State Government has confirmed the rescue of four persons abducted during an attack on an unauthorised examination centre in Olowa, Dekina Local Government Area, while the NECO examination was ongoing.

Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, said the victims were rescued after a coordinated operation involving the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services, Nigeria Police Force and local vigilante groups.

According to the government, security operatives combed nearby forests where the kidnappers were believed to be hiding, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee. The rescued persons include the school principal, a NECO official and two students, all of whom are said to be in stable condition and undergoing debriefing and medical checks.

Fanwo said security personnel had remained in the area to track down the fleeing suspects, warning that criminal elements would face the full weight of the law. He commended the Army, DSS, Police and local security groups for their professionalism and bravery during the rescue mission.

The state government also appreciated President Bola Tinubu for directing security agencies to provide support for the operation. Authorities said efforts would continue to strengthen intelligence gathering and security collaboration across the state.
