Listen

An Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Monday, ordered the remand of three men over the alleged murder of a former Ogun TV broadcaster, Mrs Kitan Oyesiku and her guard, Pelumi Adetayo. Oyesiku and her guard were found dead at her Agodo residence in June.

The three remanded are Olajunwon Sodeinde, the principal suspect, Sobu Obafunsho and Shakirudeen Ayoola.

The Chief Magistrate, Miss O.T. Odubanjo, gave the order after ruling on an ex parte application filed by the police.

Earlier, the Police Legal Officer, Mr Saheed Abiodun, had filed an application, dated July 6, seeking a 60-day remand pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The application, according to Abiodun, was brought pursuant to Section 306 of the Ogun State Administration of Criminal Justice Law, 2017, and the court’s inherent jurisdiction.

Magistrate Odubanjo granted the application and ordered that the defendants should be remanded at the Oba Correctional Centre for 60 days pending legal advice from the state DPP. She therafter adjourned the case until September 10 for mention.
