DHQ LAUNCHES TOLL-FREE 193 HOTLINE TO BOOST PUBLIC INTELLIGENCE ON SECURITY

Listen

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has launched a toll-free emergency line, 193, to encourage Nigerians to provide timely and credible information that will support ongoing military operations across the country.

Announcing the initiative on Wednesday July 1 in Abuja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major-General Michael Onoja, urged citizens to report security concerns through the newly introduced hotline or the nearest military formation. He assured the public that all information received would be treated with strict confidentiality to protect informants.

Onoja stressed that safeguarding the nation is a shared responsibility, calling on Nigerians to remain vigilant and continue supporting the Armed Forces with reliable intelligence to strengthen efforts against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other security threats.

He also conveyed the appreciation of the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, to troops for their courage and professionalism in various operational theatres. The military leadership equally commended civilian communities, the Civilian Joint Task Force, local vigilante groups and other security agencies for their continued cooperation.

According to Onoja, the Armed Forces remain committed to intensifying operations nationwide until all affected areas are stabilised, creating conditions for displaced persons to return safely to their communities and ensuring lasting peace and security across the country.
