POLICE NAB MAN WITH SEVERED HUMAN HAND IN LAGOS

The Police Command in Lagos State has apprehended a 21-year-old man found in possession of a suspected human hand, firearms and other weapons. The suspect was apprehended during a routine stop-and-search operation on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosing this in a statement on Friday June 26, said that police operatives intercepted an unregistered commercial shuttle bus conveying six occupants. She said a search on the vehicle and its occupants led to recovery of the suspected human right hand, two locally-made pistols, one live cartridge and two axes.

Adebisi said that the police also recovered one Point of Sale (POS) machine and five Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards from the suspect. She said that the suspect confessed to recently robbing three persons of their belongings, including the recovered POS machine and ATM cards.

According to her, while efforts are ongoing to identify and contact the victims for the return of the recovered property, investigation is also ongoing to unravel the mystery of the severed human hand. She said the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

Adebisi relayed reassurance to Lagos residents from the state Commissioner of Police Mr Fatai Tijani, of the command’s commitment to combating crimes across the state. Adebisi also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to the police, to support crime prevention and public safety.
