NDLEA BUSTS METH LAB IN OYO FOREST, ARRESTS MEXICAN, 4 OTHERS

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have discovered and dismantled a fortified, industrial-scale methamphetamine laboratory hidden deep within the forest of Tapa Village, Ibarapa North Local Government Area, Oyo State.

Speaking on the development on Wednesday June 24 in Abuja, the NDLEA’s Chairman, retired Brig.Gen. Buba Marwa, represented by its Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, said that the breakthrough came barely four weeks after the agency dismantled a similar laboratory in a forest in Ijebu East, Ogun State.

According to the Marwa, On June 17, tactical operatives of the NDLEA stormed a highly fortified, industrial-scale clandestine methamphetamine laboratory operating deep within the forest in Oyo State. During the raid, operatives successfully arrested five key members of the cartel on-site. They include a 56-year-old Mexican Meth expert, and four Nigerian collaborators.

While commending its officers for gallantry, dedication, and clinical professionalism, the NDLEA thanked the Nigerian public for its continued trust and credible information.
