The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command, has trained 106 personnel on proper handling of the pistol. This was revealed in a statement by the NSCDC FCT Spokesperson, Monica Ojobi, on Monday June 22 in Abuja.
According to Monica, Monday marked the end of a two-week Intensive Pistol Management Training Course for the 106 personnel. She said that the training was a reaffirmation of the corps’ commitment to manpower development, professionalism, discipline and quality service delivery.
Monica said the Corps’ FCT Commandant, Dr Olusola Odumosu, while addressing the trainees, disclosed that the training will further sharpen their pistol handling skills, as well as reinforce operational efficiency in the protection of lives and all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI).
She said Odumosu urged them to adhere strictly to the rules governing the use of firearms, as the corps maintained zero tolerance for accidental discharge.
The personnel were also urged to observe the rules of engagement, act with restraint, and remember that they were deployed to protect lives and infrastructure, not to intimidate citizens.
