The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Kwara Chapter, has urged commuters and motorists to keep emergency contacts handy and report suspicious movements to security agencies during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The branch Chairman, Alhaji AbdulRahman Onikijipa, gave the advice in Ilorin on Saturday May 23 in an interview. According to him, the rising cases of kidnapping and insecurity in some parts of the country calls for vigilance at all times.
He advised motorists, commercial drivers, tricycle operators and other road users to avoid speeding, dangerous overtaking, drunk driving and unnecessary night journeys. He further urged drivers to avoid isolated routes and sharing details of their movement with strangers. He advised all to be security conscious.
Onikijipa on a final note urged the public to celebrate responsibly, obey traffic rules and protect one another.
