President Bola Tinubu says a joint counterterrorism operation carried out by Nigerian and United States forces has led to the elimination of an ISIS senior leader in the Lake Chad Basin region.
According to the President, the operation targeted Abu Bilal Al-Manuki, also known as Abu-Mainok, along with several of his lieutenants during a strike on his compound. Tinubu described the mission as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts against terrorism in the region.
The President thanked the United States for its support and praised security personnel from both countries for their professionalism and courage during the operation.
Tinubu also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to continued action against terrorist groups and violent extremism across the country.
