The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has rounded off its airlift operations for the 2026 Hajj exercise with the departure of 557 intending pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The third batch of pilgrims took off from the Babatunde Idi-Agbon International Airport, Ilorin, aboard a Max Air flight at about 10:09 a.m., marking the final phase of the state’s pilgrimage movement for the year.
Speaking shortly before departure, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, charged the pilgrims to uphold discipline and good conduct throughout their stay in the Holy Land.
He urged them to be exemplary representatives of both Kwara State and Nigeria, stressing the need for adherence to Hajj regulations and peaceful coexistence.
Alhaji Abdulkadir also prayed for a smooth and hitch-free pilgrimage exercise, urging them to comply strictly with all operational guidelines.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Board, Professor Moshood Mahmud-Jimba, reminded the pilgrims of the spiritual essence of the journey, urging them to remain focused and conduct themselves in an orderly manner.
The pilgrims were accompanied by officials of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), alongside Board member Alhaja Khadijat Ab-tabwy, the Onipe of Ipe, Oba Muftau Lawal, and the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Agboola Moshood.
The Board confirmed that the airlift marks the completion of Kwara’s pilgrimage operations for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
